Born on a Northern Peninsula shaped strangely like a mitten

She left for Louisiana and then to Alaska where she was smitten

Destiny became white signs stamped with a flying blue goose

A resume sprinkled with works such as alligator and moose

A crazy awesome idea led her to live in a van

With the sweetest two pups and super cool man

For 18 months they traveled North, South, East, and West

Maps marked by friends of places they loved best

Then that Southern Boot did call her back

Yet before she knew-it was time to pack

East coast bound for a long island in New York

Another refuge in need of visitor services work

One day a position opened in the great region of 3

When they offered it to her she accepted with glee

She couldn't be more excited about this particular hire

Home to Michigan! Detroit! She was ready to inspire

An urban community to connect to the wild

To say she was thrilled was putting it mild

With organic veggies, Kielbasa, and Visitor Services Plan in hand

Jody DeMeyere became part of the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge clan
