Summary
The Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) proposes to determine Cordia bellonis (no common name) to be endangered pursuant to the Endangered Species Act (Act) of 1973, as amended. This shrub is endemic to Puerto Rico and restricted to three public forests: Maricao, Susua, and Rio Abajo. The species is threatened by habitat loss, some forest management practices, and restricted distribution. This proposal, if made final, would implement the Federal protection and recovery provisions afforded by the Act for Cordia bellonis.
