The Chemical Leaman Tank Lines, Inc. Superfund Site Trustees Release a Draft Amendment to the Natural Resources Restoration Plans and Environmental Assessments for 30-Day Public Comment. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection are requesting comments on a Draft Amendment to the Restoration Plans and Environmental Assessments for Operable Unit 1 and Operable Unit 3 to address natural resource injuries caused by the release of hazardous substances from the Chemical Leaman Tank Lines Superfund Site in Logan Township, Gloucester County, New Jersey. The addition of an off-site wetland restoration alternative will expand the restoration opportunities available to compensate the public for injuries and loss of natural resources at the Chemical Leaman Tank Lines Superfund Site and provide the State of New Jersey the option of using funds intended to compensate for groundwater injury on suitable wetland restoration projects. The Draft Amendment to the Restoration Plans and Environmental Assessments, which will be available for review and comment for 30 days (through February 20, 2024), can be accessed at the following website: https://www.cerc.usgs.gov/orda_docs/DocHandler.ashx?task=get&ID=10828. To submit comments, please email Steven Luell, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service New Jersey Field Office, at steven_luell@fws.gov, with the subject line "2024 Chemical Leaman Draft Amendment" no later than February 20, 2024.
