The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) will perform routine buoy maintenance, repairs and re-alignments on a monthly basis. Starting in April, Refuge staff will conduct buoy related work the first full week of each month. The work will not impede visitor access or visitor use of the Refuge, and will not be conducted on weekends or Federal holidays. If crucial buoy work needs to be conducted by refuge staff outside the first week of the month, a New Release will be posted detailing the circumstances, and information will also be posted on the Refuge website at https://www.fws.gov/refuge/havasu/
"Inevitably buoys drift, break loose, and occasionally are vandalized which requires our attention. We want to make sure we are providing our Refuge visitors with clear guidance so they can safely recreate on the Refuge. I am committed to keeping our local communities and Refuge partners adequately informed to avoid any confusion or concern on management of the Refuge waters and lands", said Richard Meyers, U.S. Fish &Wildlife Service, Havasu NWR Refuge Manager.
