Tulelake, Calif., -- The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service today announced a 45-day extension of the comment period on the Draft Comprehensive Conservation Plan/Environmental Impact Statement (CCP/EIS) for Lower Klamath, Clear Lake, Tule Lake, Upper Klamath, and Bear Valley National Wildlife Refuges. Comments on the Draft CCP/EIS are now due by August 4, 2016.
The Draft CCP/EIS is a programmatic document to provide refuge managers with a 15-year plan for achieving refuge purposes and fulfilling the mission of the National Wildlife Refuge System, consistent with sound principles of fish and wildlife management, conservation, legal mandates, and policies. The Draft CCP/EIS also identifies wildlife-dependent recreational opportunities available to the public, including opportunities for hunting, fishing, wildlife observation and photography, environmental education and interpretation.
The DCCP/EIS document is available on the following website: http://www.regulations.gov (Docket number FWS-R8-NWRS-2016-0063).
Printed copies of the document may be viewed Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Klamath Basin National Wildlife Refuge Complex, 4009 Hill Road, Tulelake, California, and at local libraries.
Written comments on the draft plan must be received on or before August 4, 2016. Comments previously submitted during the public comment period that began on May 6, 2016 do not need to be resubmitted and will be fully considered. To submit written comments, please use one of the following methods:
