Comment Period Extended for Los Angeles Department of Water and Power Draft Habitat Conservation Plan

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. -- The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is extending the public review and comment period for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power draft Habitat Conservation Plan (HCP).

Comments will be accepted until Dec. 4, 2015. 

Comments may be sent by U.S. mail to Kennon Corey, LADWP HCP, Palm Springs Fish and Wildlife Service Office, 777 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way, Suite 208, Palm Springs, CA 92262.  

The draft HCP encompasses about 314,000 acres of land in Inyo and Mono counties, and proposes to provide incidental take coverage for 10 years to address 7 species – 5 of which are listed as threatened or endangered under the Endangered Species Act, including the Owens pupfish and southwestern willow flycatcher. 

Activities to be analyzed by the HCP include water gathering and distribution; power production and transmission; livestock grazing; and fire management.
