Service Approves Habitat Conservation Plan for Cinco Solar Project

CARLSBAD, Calif. -- A Habitat Conservation Plan (HCP) has been completed and the Service has issued a permit for RE Barren Ridge 1 LLC’s 500-acre solar project in Kern County, California

The 40-year permit covers incidental impacts to the federally threatened desert tortoise associated with the construction, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning of the solar facility.

To mitigate impacts to tortoises, RE Barren Ridge 1 LLC will conserve a minimum of 500 acres of acquired land outside the project area.

Copies of the permit and other information will be available on the Carlsbad Fish and Wildlife Office’s website at www.fws.gov/carlsbad/HCPs/HCP_Docs.html.
