Six Species of Birds from Europe, Asia, and Africa Proposed for Endangered Species Act Protection
Six species of birds found on islands in French Polynesia, Europe, Southeast Asia, and Africa are being proposed for protection under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The proposal published in the January 5, 2010, Federal Register, is based on an assessment of the best scientific and commercial information available. The following species are proposed to be protected as endangered: the Cantabrian capercaillie, the Marquesan imperial pigeon, the Eiao Polynesian warbler, the greater adjutant, Jerdon
