Council Teleconference

The Sport Fishing and Boating Partnership Council (Council) convened for a teleconference meeting on December 19, 2014. In accordance with the provisions of Public Law 92-463, the meeting was open to the public throughout its duration.

SFBPC Members Participating: Scott Kovarovics (Chair) James Adams, Janine Belleque, Doug Boyd, Thom Dammrich, Chris Edmonston, Gene Gilliland, Fred Harris, John Sprague, Jim Zorn

Designated Federal Official (DFO) for the Council: Brian Bohnsack, PhD, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service

Other participants: Ryck Lydecker (Council BIG Tier II subcommittee), Paul VanRyzin (U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service), Christy Vigfusson (U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service), Bennie Williams (U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service)

Meeting was called to order by Council Chair Scott Kovarovics at approximately 10:30 am. Introductory remarks were made by Council members and roll call was taken.

Presentations

Member John Sprague facilitated a discussion of the Council’s Boating Infrastructure Grant Program Tier II subcommittee’s efforts. Specifically, Mr. Sprague and other Council members discussed the subcommittee’s meeting to review and rank proposals submitted for funding consideration from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Boating Infrastructure Grant Program Tier II awards for fiscal year 2015. The subcommittee ranked all of the proposals and provided these recommendations to the Council. The Council approved the subcommittee’s recommendation and will prepare a letter to the Director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service regarding this.

Member John Sprague updated the Council on his activities with coordinating a panel of government and industry personnel that work with boating access infrastructure project reviews and permitting. The panel will be held at the Council’s upcoming meeting at the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge and will discuss the government permitting processes.

Members discussed potential agenda items for the upcoming February 2015 Council meeting.
