In 2017, the Winnie Depot emergency command center at the Texas Chenier Plain National Wildlife Refuge Complex withstood flooding from Hurricane Harvey with little damage. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service restored and hardened the Texas coast complex after it sustained damage in 2008 from Hurricane Ike.
