Original caption: Two-person dry submarine, in San Francisco Bay, California. This vehicle is used for underwater studies of fish migrations, observations of fish behavior, and for habit studies. It is powered by storage batteries, can dive to 300 foot depth, and cruise up to 6 knots. The 1-ton, 12-foot research vessel, stationed at the Tiburon, California, Marine Laboratory of the Bureau of Sport Fisheries and Wildlife. Fish and Wildlife Service, can operate submerged for 10 continuous hours. The Interior Department's first submarine. The vessel can be hauled by trailer between fishery research assignments. c. 1963-1964.
