U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service Two-Man Submarine in San Francisco Bay, c. 1966-1967

Small, elliptical-shaped two-person submarine in the water, with the top surface of the vessel above water. The top of the vessel features two turreted vision cupolas for each of the two-man crew; the access hatches for the cupolas are one, with the heads of the crew visible. A horizontal stabilizing fin appears on the front of the vessel, just behind the nose. On the top side of the vessel is the legend "TIBURON MARINE LABORATORY"

Bureau of Sport Fisheries two-man dry submarine, in San Francisco Bay. This vehicle was used for underwater studies of fish migrations, observations of fish behavior, and for habit studies. It was powered by storage batteries, could dive to 300 foot depth, and cruise up to 6 knots. Circa 1966-1967.
