U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service Director Mollie Beattie (the first female director of the Service) Preparing to Release a Bald Eagle at Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, June 30, 1994. The Bald Eagle had been given the name "Hope". The release was to mark the announcement that the Bald Eagle was no longer considered an endangered species.
