Traditional Makah territory at Lake Ozette, looking towards Tivoli Island. Makah National Fish Hatchery is also instrumental in providing support for the Tribe's ESA listed Lake Ozette sockeye salmon program. The access and operation of the Makah Tribe's Lake Ozette facility was damaged in the November 2021 floods. Additionally, increasing frequency of early droughts over the last several seasons has changed the release timing for the Lake Ozette sockeye to much sooner than was typical when the program first started in the early 1980s.
