Synopsis of the biological data on the green turtle (Chelonia mydas) (linnaeus 1758)

This review of the green turtle, Chelonia mydas, has been prepared following the FAO fisheries synopsis outline of Rose (1965) and as applied to marine turtles by Hirth (1971b). The main purposes of this synopsis are to bring together the current and salient information on the biology of the green turtle and to draw attention to some of the major gaps in our knowledge of the species. Because of the nature of a synopsis, i.e., that of providing an entry into the literature, researchers should peruse the original papers for details of methodologies and conclusions.
