A small cascade begins the Dog Salmon Falls, a 30 foot waterfall just below Frazer Lake. The Alaska Department of Fish and Game built a fish ladder and introduced sockeye salmon to the river and lake in the 1950s. Returning sockeye school at the base of the falls before migrating up the ladder; bears congregate in the area to take advantage of the fishing opportunity.
