Short-tailed Albatross and Laysan Albatross chicks with decoys

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service biologists used these Short-tailed Albatross decoys to help attract some of the critically endangered birds to Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge. The chick on the left is a Laysan Albatross. The larger chick on the right is a Short-tailed Albatross, the second of its kind hatched on Midway. Atoll, in 2012.
