Roads through Great Dismal Swamp

Two dirt roads cut through Great Dismal Swamp and intersect in a cross. There are ditches of water that run adjacent along one side of each road.

As man-made ditches were dug to drain Great Dismal Swamp, the excavated dirt was piled into roads that are still used today.
