Private landowners and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program are teaming up to help at-risk animals such as the gopher tortoise and Eastern indigo snake. Both are listed as threatened species under the Endangered Species Act. Both depend on, and thrive in, longleaf pine habitat.
