This is one location where Railroad Valley springfish can be found. This habitat used to be part of a ranch which has since fallen out of use and the habitat is now being restored. Railroad Valley springfish are federally listed as threatened. They are found in six thermal springs in central Nevada. The fish have adapted to survive in 86-100 degree Fahrenheit waters, water temperatures that relatively few fish can endure. Threats to recovery include invasive fish and habitat modification.
