The Pacific Remote Islands Marine National Monument was established on January 6, 2009, by President George W. Bush through Presidential Proclamation 8336. This proclamation was created for the purpose of protection the lands and interest in lands owned or controlled by the United States within the boundaries of the PRIMNM.
