The USFWS volunteer crew hopes to turn this grassy hilltop into a vibrant sea of purple and white, fluttering with the activity of pollinators. Behind them sits a newly acquired 102 acres of woodlands that now makes the entire Cannery Hill peninsula part of Nestucca Bay NWR. Volunteers split off into groups of three to make their way through the 4,200 early blue violet plugs that would reach that day.
