Sign at Mattamuskeet National Wildlife Refuge. Sign is shaped like a shield, and is suspended from a frame that consists of two vertical wooden logs surmounted by a horizontal wooden log. The sign reads "U.S. Department of the Interior Fish and Wildlife Service Mattamuskeet National Wildlife Refuge". Addendum to the top reads "1849 - A Century of Conservation - 1949"
