Pacific lampreys caught in the fish ladder are moved to the migration tube system at Van Arsdale Fisheries Station in Potter Valley, California. Individual lampreys are tracked to evaluate performance when ascending obstacles. The information collected during these studies provides a scientific basis for improving passage at dams and connecting lampreys with their upstream spawning grounds. Credit: Steve Martarano/USFWS
