Nicole Jeon chose a Harlequin Duck for the Junior Duck Stamp Contest because of their elegance and brightly colored feathers. She enjoys painting with acrylics, finding that she can more easily adjust the volumes to develop texture and shade than with oils or pastels. Nicole plans to continue to study art and is contemplating a career as an art teacher or professor. Prior to entering the Junior Duck Stamp Contest, Nicole wasn’t sure what it was all about. Now that she has learned the value of conservation she wants to explore opportunities to use her art to support wildlife. Nicole strives to bring her art in many different fields to help organizations just like the Federal Duck Stamp. In the future, she hopes to use her artwork further to expand the art field and help communities as such. Besides painting, Nicole enjoys playing the piano, volunteering, and swimming. She and her family live in Scarsdale, New York.
