Artist: Adam Nisbett, 17
Hometown: St. James, Mo.
Species: Fulvous whistling-ducks
Adam Nisbett from St. James, Mo., won the Junior Duck Stamp Contest in 2004 after many tries. After winning, Adam taught an art class to local home-schoolers. The kids all did a painting and submitted it. "For me," Nisbett says, "entering the Junior Duck Stamp Contest was good practice. But also, the money raised really goes to good use, the federal stamp being put toward conserving wetlands." Adam studied mechanical engineering and planned on teaching. "So really my art is just a serious hobby."
