The Gulf sturgeon lives in the northern Gulf of Mexico, bays, estuaries and in major rivers in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. The gulf sturgeon spends most of the year in freshwater, where it reproduces, and migrates to saltwater in the fall.
