The NOAA Marine Debris Program leads national efforts to research, prevent, and reduce the impacts of marine debris in partnership with state and local agencies, tribes, non-governmental organizations, academia, and industry. Each year the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the State of Hawaii, and NOAA staff and volunteers collect tons of marine debris from the atolls and throughout Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument.
