Director of Animal Health Dr. Charles Innis and Senior Biologist Linda Lory of the New England Aquarium pack box turtles for overnight shipping to the Wildlife Epidemiology Laboratory at the University of Illinois. In accordance with regulations for humane transportation, the turtles were each placed within individual nylon bags to prevent them from scratching or biting each other, inside a cardboard shipping box with air holes, and lined with Styrofoam and shredded paper to provide cushioning and temperature control.
