A mining bee (Andrena sp.) foraging on a one-color willow (Salix monochroma) in early spring. Willow species bloom early in the year, before many other shrubs or perennial forbs are blooming and likely provide plentiful pollen and nectar for foraging bees during a particularly stressful time of year.
