This is a detailed restoration plan for Alternative 1. Shown are four general areas of mudflat habitat surrounded by a thin area of low marsh that is surrounded by a wider area of mid to high marsh, all located within the main restoration area. The areas are situated generally to the north and south of the previously restored Model Marsh, and will be fed by newly created intertidal channels that connect to the South Beach Slough. Another small restoration area, located to the east of the larger restoration site, is connected to the Old River Slough and is proposed for mid to high marsh habitat. Existing native transitional habitat would be preserved along the southern boundary of the main restoration site, with native upland habitat present along the southern and eastern edge of the transitional habitat. Small areas of transitional habitat will also be created along the southern edge of the previously restored Model Marsh.
