Neosho National Fish Hatchery staff remove algae from outdoor fish rearing ponds. Neosho is one of many hatcheries across the country that struggles with excessive algal blooms, a common problem in ponds, lakes, urban rivers and fish rearing facilities alike. When algae takes over, it can be harmful to the fish and unsightly for a venue that hosts several popular fishing events annually and thousands of visitors year-round.
