About this Collection

This library collection includes Candidate Notices of Review published since 1994.

After years of a concerted effort to address the backlog of Candidate Species, there are now only 16 species on the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's list of candidates. The Candidate Notice of Review is the yearly status appraisal of plants and animals that are candidates for Endangered Species Act (ESA) protection. The Candidate Notice of Review for fiscal year 2022 published on June 27, 2023.
