The National Elk Refuge and Jackson Hole Writers invite you to explore the newly designated Wildflower Nature Discovery Trail on the National Elk Refuge for an adventure in plant identification, nature connection, and writing.
On the way up, we will stop and ponder the flowers and plants that line the edges of the trail. At the top, we will share written works inspired by the Jackson Hole valley and discuss different writing techniques. On the return to the parking area, time will be given to contemplate and write in response to a plant of your choice.
Plants and Poetry will take place on a .7-mile one-way (1.4mi round-trip) trail with a 640ft elevation gain/loss. Hiking boots, bear spray, water, and weather appropriate clothing are recommended. Please bring your own writing materials.
This free event is limited to 15 participants. Please stop by the visitor center to sign up.
Participants will meet at the Wildflower Nature Discovery Trailhead located 2 miles down the Refuge Road, on the east side of the road. Parking area has a sign denoting access to the National Forest. You will also see a bench about 20 yards up the trail.
