Centennial Celebration

The Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge (refuge) is celebrating 100 yeras of conservation and recreation n 2024! The Savanna District staff, volunteers and Stewards of the Upper Mississippi RIver Refuge would like to invite you to join in the celebrations! This will be an open house style event highlighting some of the key conservation partners and organizations throughout the District and where you can meet faces of the refuge! There will be live fish identification demonstrations, a casting contest, flora walks, face painting, and activities galore! This is a FREE event for all ages and will also be your chance to vote for the "Best in Show" as we will be displaying the Refuge Centennial Photo Contest winners!

The presentation schedule for the day is as follows:

10:00 a.m. Welcome!

11:00 a.m. "Midwest bedrock: the search for nature's soul in America's heartland" by author, Kevin Koch 

12:00 p.m. "History of the Refuge" by Savanna District Manager, Ed Britton

1:00 p.m. "Environmental programs of the Quad Cities nuclear station" by aquatic biologist, Jeremiah Haas
