Volunteer Position Overview
About This Position
Do you like camping with full hook-ups in rural, high desert sage brush areas with a chance to see pronghorn, greater sage-grouse, mule deer, and birds? Are you into dark night skies and access to local hot spring area? Are you a hard independent worker but also like to talk with other campers and visitors? We're looking for you!
We need a reliable person or couple for visitor services and facility maintenance duties.
Campground Host Duties:
- Be an educator to share Refuge rules and promote good campground behavior with fellow campers
- Clean and maintain vault toilets and fire pits in main campground and backcountry campgrounds
- Drive a government vehicle on gravel Refuge Roads to complete tasks; up to 6-8 hours for two days a week
Schedule will include weekends and two days during week with some flexibility. More details will be provided and discussed during interview process. Personal vehicle is required for off day travel, such as getting groceries.
