Volunteer Position Overview
About This Position
Spend your summer in the beautiful Cascade Mountains while supporting the mission of the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service! Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery is seeking one or two dedicated volunteers to assist our maintenance team during the busy summer season.
In exchange for approximately 20 hours per week of volunteer service, hatchery hosts are provided with an RV site with full hookups, suitable for any size vehicle.
Volunteers play a vital role in keeping the hatchery running smoothly and welcoming for visitors. Some potential projects include:
- Lawn mowing and grounds upkeep
- Trail and boat launch maintenance
- Trash removal and general cleaning
- Painting and working with hand tools
- Watering plants and maintaining irrigation systems
- Minor plumbing repairs and pump operation
- Small engine preventative maintenance
Additional tasks based on skill level:
- Oil changes and tire rotations
- Minor electrical work and system troubleshooting
- Equipment operation and support on large projects
