The Nevada Biodiversity Initiative (NBI) is holding its annual photo contest to collect images of native species, habitat, and landscapes that tell a story of Nevada. Cash prizes will be awarded to winning contestants in the amount of $50 for first place and $25 for second place in three categories: Nevada landscapes, native plants, and wildlife.
Entries should be submitted in black & white or color photos, slides or by CD. Both landscape and close-up photos are acceptable. Photographs with people or buildings as primary subject matter will not be considered. All entries must be postmarked by midnight May 15, 2006, and should be accompanied by an entry form and a $10.00 entry fee which covers up to ten photos.
The NBI is an organization of state and federal agencies, universities, and private organizations that conduct and coordinate research in Nevada. The goal of NBI is to assemble, analyze, and interpret data on biological resources in Nevada and to provide this information in a usable format to agencies that have the statutory responsibility to manage these resources. NBI was developed to help integrate long-term planning for biological resources with public land management.
