Notice is hereby given that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Medicine Lake National Wildlife Refuge proposes to remove Dam #1 on Big Muddy Creek and replace with a recontoured channel. The USFWS and SHPO are executing an MOA to resolve for adverse effects on the dam that would result from the undertaking to remove the dam. Please click here to see the draft MOA between the Montana State Historic Preservation Officer and the Medicine Lake National Wildlife Refuge. Comments can be made to medicinelake@fws.gov until March 14, 2026.
