Marsh Erosion Information Sharing Session

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will be hosting an informal information sharing session on March 11th from 6pm-8pm at Knotts Island Elementary School. Mackay Island National Wildlife Refuge has lost marsh to erosion and other conditions over time and expects this trend to continue. In an effort to protect remaining marsh habitats and restore lost marsh, the Refuge seeks input from local communities on ways to address these challenges that meet both Refuge and community needs. The Refuge is currently in the early stages of modeling water flows in the area and brainstorming solutions. During this information sharing session, we will be garnering public input that can be incorporated into the project outcomes. Please join us at the Knotts Island Elementary School on March 11th from 6pm-8pm with ideas for protecting and restoring marshlands on Mackay Island National Wildlife Refuge. If you are unable to attend and would like to share your ideas, please email them to Emily Wells at Emily_J_Wells@FWS.gov
