Murray State University professor John Hewlett will give a short presentation in the auditorium on our local salamanders. Following the program, for those hardy souls that wish we will have a "salamander crawl" . That means we will hike 1 mile into the Britton Ford Hiking Trail to a spring area where we will thrash around the adjacent slopes to see what species of salamanders are present. These areas are uneven ground with slick slopes, so we recommend those who participate in the field portion of this program be okay with "off trail" terrain and wear good clothes toed shoes. You might even think about wearing some knee boots. However, you can just come for the presentation part of this program without actually doing the salamander crawl.
