June 5th Volunteer Workday

June 5th Volunteer Workday - San Pablo Bay NWR

Come join us for an important and rewarding volunteer workday at San Pablo Bay National Wildlife Refuge! Help maintain and improve this vital habitat while enjoying the fresh air and stunning views. No experience is necessary - just bring your enthusiasm and willingness to lend a hand. Don't forget to check the weather forecast and dress accordingly.

The June workday event will focus on weeding at our Dickson Ranch Unit. Volunteers will work with refuge staff to control top priority invasive species invasive species
An invasive species is any plant or animal that has spread or been introduced into a new area where they are, or could, cause harm to the environment, economy, or human, animal, or plant health. Their unwelcome presence can destroy ecosystems and cost millions of dollars.

. All tools and personal protective equipment (PPE) needed by volunteers to conduct activities in this plan will be provided by Refuge staff. They include but are not limited to: shovels, loppers, hand-shears, hand tools for weeding, bags for disposal of weeds/trash, and gloves.

Since work will occur outdoors and is physical in nature, volunteers should take breaks as needed.

Volunteers will also have the option to work in the plant nursery, where our partners at Point Blue could use help with activities such as planting seeds and maintaining the nursery grounds.

Volunteers are strongly encouraged to bring their own water, lunch/snacks, hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, and mosquito/tick repellant.

Meet at the Sears Point Trail parking lot at 10:00 AM.
