Events at Mackay Island National Wildlife Refuge

Take a look at our upcoming events this year! Fall and winter are wonderful times to visit Mackay Island NWR. Migrant birds, especially shorebirds and waterfowl, join the refuge's resident birds. Cooler temperatures make for more pleasant hiking, biking, and fishing. During designated Open Roads Days, impoundment and dike roads are open to public vehicles, providing easy access to great wildlife viewing in the refuge. Hunters can try for white-tailed deer on the refuge during refuge hunts.
