Florida Man and Company Sentenced for Turtle Trafficking

Michael Van Nostrand and his company, Strictly Reptiles, Inc., were sentenced for their roles in a scheme to unlawfully enrich themselves by smuggling illegally-harvested Florida turtles from the United States to Asia.  The defendant was sentenced to seven month of imprisonment followed by three years of supervised release and order to pay a $100,000 fine to the Lacey Act Reward Fund.  His company received five years of probation and ordered to pay a $150,000 fine.
