DOI Administrative Records Schedule

The U. S. Department of the Interior (DOI), Record Group 048, protects and manages the Nation’s natural resources and cultural heritage; provides scientific and other information about those resources; and honors its trust responsibilities or special commitments to American Indians, Alaska Natives, and affiliated island communities. In accomplishing this mission, DOI records these activities, maintaining adequate and proper documentation of Department policies and transactions, through its comprehensive records management program. DOI serves its customers in the four broad areas of recreational uses, commercial uses, community services, and science for decision making
