Biologist Holland Youngman examines bat roosting structures

As part of conservation efforts associated with in widening of interstate 26 through western North Carolina, the N.C. Department of Transportation installed bat roosting structures on a bridge crossing the French Broad River, offering an alternative roost to gray and other bats who may not use regular roosts due to disturbance related to highway construction.
