Volunteers of all ages are invited to help the Jackson County Invasive Partnership group remove invasive species invasive species
An invasive species is any plant or animal that has spread or been introduced into a new area where they are, or could, cause harm to the environment, economy, or human, animal, or plant health. Their unwelcome presence can destroy ecosystems and cost millions of dollars.
Learn more about invasive species from the refuge on Saturday, April 1. Plants to be removed will be garlic mustard (easy to pull) and bush honeysuckle (a little harder to cut). Volunteers should dress warm and wear footwear appropriate for possibly wet and muddy ground. Work tools will be provided. At the end of the work snacks will be provided by the Muscatatuck Wildlife Society. If you have a large group that would like to come please let us know by emailing Muscatatuck@fws.gov.
