Enjoy a fun outing in nature when you visit the Tijuana Slough National Wildlife Refuge! We will kick-off this National Trails Day event by leading a bird and nature walk starting at 9:00 am at the Tijuana Estuary Visitor Center. The nature guide will lead visitors along an unpaved, flat accessible trail where adjacent coastal wetlands and native uplands support a variety of birds and other wildlife that call the Refuge their home. Binoculars will be available to borrow free of charge.
Following the nature walk, Refuge staff will welcome visitors outside the Tijuana Estuary Visitor Center where visitors can get more information about the event including fun activity guides that will come in useful as you take an easy stroll along North McCoy Trail. Park rangers will be on the trail to talk about native plants and wildlife and offer free giveaways.
Don’t forget to stop by the visitor center! They offer variety of hands-on, interactive activities for all ages as well as a collection of videos (including videos in Spanish) that are shown upon request.
Although dogs are more than welcome, please make sure to keep them on a 6-foot or shorter leash, and you must pick up after your pet.
