2023 Mule Deer Migration

Ruby Lake National Wildlife Refuge in Nevada provides important habitat for the largest mule deer herd in the state, especially in fall and spring migrations. These photos are from early January as hundreds of mule deer exited the Ruby Mountains following significant snowfall. The deer were in and out of the refuge boundary for miles as they traveled south. This took place over a couple of weeks, day and night. Credit: Jenner Harsha/USFWS
