About this Collection

The National Elk Refuge is moving forward with plans to replace the current visitor center with a nature center. Documents related to the project will be organized here.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) has published a final Environmental Assessment (EA) to evaluate effects associated with replacement of the existing visitor center at Wyoming’s National Elk Refuge (Refuge). The completely redesigned facility, which will include indoor and outdoor components, will enable the Service to reach a more diverse audience within the local community and among the millions of national and international visitors to the Jackson Hole area each year. The replacement Nature Center will be a stepping-stone to broader engagement with visitors. It will physically and symbolically serve as the front door of the National Elk Refuge within the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.
